Warranty & Claims

Your drone is a working tool, and we want you flying, not stuck waiting. This page covers what's protected, who handles what, and how to start a claim if something goes wrong.

Every claim starts with us. Don't contact DJI or JZ directly. Come to us first, and we'll handle the next steps.

All of our coverage counts from your delivery date.

What warranty comes with my drone?

Every new DJI drone we sell arrives unactivated and is covered by DJI's manufacturer warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. On top of that, we cover the first 30 days ourselves.

Dead on arrival, within 10 days of delivery

Contact us within 10 days of your delivery date. We'll replace it from our own stock, no questions asked.

Days 1–30 from delivery

We stand behind any defect directly.

After 30 days, up to 12 months from delivery

After 30 days from delivery, your drone is covered by DJI's manufacturer warranty. We'll help you file and track your claim with DJI, but repairs, replacements, parts availability, and claim decisions are made by DJI, and Drone Deer Recovery is not responsible for them.

How do I file a claim?

  1. 1Call us at (234) 423-4979. It's the only way to open a warranty claim, including dead-on-arrival claims. A team member will log your claim for you while you're on the phone.
  2. 2We'll review it and tell you the next step. If DJI needs to handle it, we open the case with DJI for you and help you track it.

Have these ready:

  • Your drone's serial number
  • Proof of purchase (your order number or receipt)
  • A description or a short video of the problem

You don't need to send flight logs. Our techs pull the flight data themselves.

Where does it ship, and who pays?

  • Usually: we open the case with DJI, and DJI sends you a shipping label.
  • If your drone ships to us instead: on warranty cases, we pay freight both ways. On paid (non-warranty) repairs, you pay freight both ways.

How long does it take?

Turnaround depends on the issue and on parts availability from DJI. We'll give you an estimated timeframe once we've assessed your drone, and keep you updated.

What if it arrives dead?

Contact us within 10 days of your delivery date. We'll replace it from our own stock, no questions asked.

DJI's warranty periods, by model

DJI sets the warranty period for each part. Batteries also have a charge-cycle limit, and the warranty ends at whichever limit comes first.

On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every model.

A few more things from DJI's policy:

  • DJI's own warranty period starts on the day following the delivery date. Without proof of purchase, it starts 90 days after the ship date shown on the product.
  • DJI warranty service is only available in the region where the product was purchased.

What isn't covered?

  • Crash and impact damage is not covered, except where flight data shows the cause was a defect in the aircraft.
  • Water damage, and damage from modification or non-DJI parts.
  • Propellers (they carry no warranty).

Does a replacement restart my warranty?

No. A replacement drone or part keeps your original warranty date. The 12 months don't restart.

JZ spotlights

JZ spotlights come with a one-year warranty. Claims for them also start with us, using the same phone number. We'll take it to JZ for you, so you never need to contact JZ yourself.

What we don't offer

To keep expectations clear: we don't do in-house repairs, and we don't offer loaner drones or advance replacements. The dead-on-arrival swap from our own stock is the only coverage we add on top of DJI's warranty.

Returns

All sales of DJI commercial and enterprise equipment are final. This doesn't affect the warranty coverage above. Accessories and apparel follow our Refund Policy.

What about "The Drone Deer Guarantee"?

The Drone Deer Guarantee is our money-back guarantee on pilots hired through the Pilot Locator Map. It covers pilot service, not drones or equipment.
